Update - Wednesday, 3rd June 2020

We are delighted to let you know that our Ilkley Clinic is now open, with our Burley in Wharfedale Clinic

re-open on Tuesday 9th June for all Podiatry / Chiropody treatments. Whilst Reflexology with Joy and Sports Massage with Dan, will hopefully recommence in early July at our Ilkley Clinic on Ashlands Road.

We have put stringent measures in place for your safety, and our team members are wearing full PPE for your protection. Your appointment time will now be longer to allow for a full clean down in between patients.  Please wear a mask when attending for your appointment.

Appointments may be booked online following our book now link or by calling 01943 863733, where Rachael and Sarah from our Patient Support team will carry out a short telephone triage and book your appointment.  Please do not attend if you feel unwell, or have been in contact with anyone who may be experiencing Covid-19 symptoms!

Please note, we no longer have a receptionist at our Burley in Wharfedale clinic and we ask you to take a seat in the waiting area and complete the short form.  One of the Podiatrists will welcome you in to the treatment room at your appointment time.

We are excited to be back in our clinics once again and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Phased re-opening for urgent Podiatry / Chiropody for essential NHS staff and other key-workers as well as non key-workers with a more urgent need for treatment.

Important update from LFW Podiatry / Chiropody and Wellness Clinic

Welcome to LFW Podiatry.  You may have heard our advert on Stray FM and following clarification from our governing bodies, we would like to update you on our gradual re-opening, whilst maintaining social distancing measures and protecting you using the correct PPE.

We can now treat people in the following categories as well as the urgent / emergency high risk cases as previously outlined.

Are you an essential front line key worker with foot pain or discomfort, which is likely to prevent you from working?

• Are you a non key-worker with very painful corns or large areas of painful callus, in-growing toenails which if left untreated could lead to more serious / urgent foot problems?

Please telephone the clinic on 01943 863733 if you need an appointment. We will need to carry out a telephone triage to assess elibigility and then book your appointment at the clinic on Ashlands Road, Ilkley.

Online bookings can currently ONLY be made for treatments to be taken from 22nd June onwards.  These are for treatments at both the Ilkley and Burley in Wharfedale clinics.

In order to follow guidelines and work with current social distancing measures, we will be extending treatment times to allow you to arrive at your allotted treatment time, be treated and leave following your treatment to ensure your safety.  We ask that you do not bring anyone with you to your appointment as we are currently only allowing the patient to attend.  In doing so, this helps to minimise the risk of the spread of Covid-19.  When attending for your appointment, we ask if possible you wear a face mask / covering.  You will be seated in the clinic behind a perspex screen for your protection.  Our Podiatrists and Admin staff will be wearing the appropriate PPE but we still maintain our friendly and  profesional image.

With the above in mind, from 18th May, we will be available to see patients at our Ilkley clinic at 29 Ashlands Road, Ilkley. LS29 8JT in the categories above as follows:-

Monday 18th 9am-5pm with Helen

Tuesday 19th 9am-5pm with Lynda

Wednesday 20th 9am-5pm with Helen

Thursday 21st 8am-2pm with Lynda  and then 3pm-7pm with Helen

Each week, we will update the available appointments or you can phone the clinic for the latest availability on 01943 863733

.

Our clinic at The Grange, Burley in Wharfedale is not yet open as this is a public building and we need to put further social distancing measures in place.   We will update this as and when we have further news.

Treatments we cannot currently see you for are:-

• Medical pedicures and aesthetic Podiatry

• Lacuna for fungal nails

• Verruca needling

• Toenail reconstruction

• General toenail cutting without having any other pathology

Joy Kelly, Reflexologist and Dan Ward, Myofascial release therapist are not currently permitted to work.

We will be updating you as and when we get further direction as this is likely to change.

Coronavirus update Friday, 17th April 2020

Helping to stop the spread of Coronavirus and keeping you safe

We wanted to keep in touch with all our patients new and old with an update on the current situation regarding Podiatry / Chiropody treatments.

We have been in regular contact with our governing body - the College of Podiatry as well as the HCPC (health care and professions council) and their latest directive is as follows:-

Podiatrists are not currently permitted to carry out normal routine treatments to patients and must adhere to the COP and HCPC guidelines at all times which state that, no HCPC Registered Podiatrist should carry out any treatments other than those deemed urgent; which means that only a patient who has an ulcer or serious infection,  which if left untreated, could be limb threatening !

Routine treatments such as those involving nail cutting, corn and callus removal, verruca treatments  are not permitted during the current COVID19 pandemic and a Podiatrist failing to adhere to these rules, could be uninsured and lose their registration and may be fined.

At LFW Podiatry, we totally understand that many patients are now in need of their nails cutting or a painful corn removing but we also acknowledge that preventing the spread of the Coronavirus is more important at this time, saving lives and keeping safe.

Please do not be tempted to use an unregulated person for nails and corn removal at this time.

If you feel you have a genuine urgent need for treatment, please call the clinic on 01943 863733 in the first instance and one of the Podiatrists will call you back to telephone triage and where necessary arrange a video consultation.  From that, if we agree that you have a genuine need for an urgent treatment, we will arrange for you to come to clinic where all appropriate hygiene protocols will be adhered to along with wearing of the correct PPE (personal protective equipment) during your visit.

Friday 27th March 2020

We have had to make probably one of the hardest decisions since the opening of LFW Podiatry Clinic 5 years ago.  In light of the ever increasing numbers of cases of the coronavirus known as COVID-19, we have come to the decision that the health and wellbeing of our patients and our staff is the most important thing we can do to try protect people in the current pandemic.

With this in mind, we have made the very difficult decision to close both our clinics until the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic is over.

We obviously plan to open again as soon as we can and once it is safe to do so.   We will put updates on this page so please check in on us from time to time.  We will also put things on our blog page within the news page.  Please keep in touch!

We thank you for all for your patience and understanding during this very difficult time and the decisions we have made have not been made lightly and have been put in place to try and minimise the spread of this disease and save lives!

To all the patients we have had to cancel with appointments between 26th March and 12th April, we will be in touch just as soon as we know it is safe to open our clinic again.  If your appointment is after 12th April, we will closely monitor the lockdown situation and be in touch with you should we need to cancel or rearrange your upcoming appointment.

Our Podiatrists will be available remotely if you have an urgent concern about your feet.  Whilst we are closed, you can contact one of us on the numbers below or send us an email to [email protected]

Helping You Put Your Best Foot Forward

LFW Podiatry / Chiropody & Wellness Clinic in Burley in Wharfedale, West Yorkshire is a clinic-based practice that treats patients with all kinds of foot-related problems from basic nail cutting, corn and hard skin removal to more complex musculoskeletal conditions. We also provide gait analysis using the new PodoSmart gait analysis system. We also prescribe custom orthotic devices to help correct poor foot function which may be causing you pain either in the feet or elsewhere in the legs and lower back, we do this using the latest 3D digital scanner technology. We offer the latest medical pedicures to help keep your feet in top condition and looking their best. Whether you are a very young or an elderly patient, we will help you look after your feet.

Podiatrists (also known as chiropodists) assess, diagnose and treat problems of the foot and ankle. They work with patients of all ages, relieving pain and discomfort as well as helping them stay as mobile and independent as possible. The average adult walks the equivalent of four times around the earth in a lifetime, so it is vital to look after your feet as you would your eyes and teeth.

The human foot is a very complex piece of our anatomy and is also one of the most important in terms of our mobility and general sense of well-being. A podiatrist assesses and provides a treatment plan for a wide range of foot problems such as:

  • Painful Corns
  • Problematic Hard Skin
  • Cracked Heels
  • Bunions
  • Orthotic prescription
  • Fungal Nail Infections
  • Athlete’s Foot
  • Verrucae
  • Foot and ankle pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Ingrown Toenail Surgery with local anaesthesia
  • Nail Cutting
  • Mortons Neuroma
  • Achilles pain

More complex foot problems require an in-depth assessment to determine the cause of the issue. Working with you we will create a treatment plan, with the aim of reducing painful symptoms and often curing them completely.

In addition, we have a keen interest in diabetes and offer diabetic assessments to help, wherever possible reduce the risk of ulceration and amputation. We provide a simple annual diabetic assessment of your feet, looking for any changes in neurological sensation and vascular status. This is a painless assessment taking approximately 20 minutes.
